Trauma Healing
With the outbreak of civil war in 2013, millions of South Sudanese were brutalized and suffered on-going trauma even after fleeing to Uganda from news of continued death among loved ones left behind in South Sudan. Many have also suffered ambiguous loss as a result of loved ones disappearing. In many cases the survivors are orphaned children.
SSLCD has responded by providing large group healing sessions and training leaders to identify and intervene with those suffering trauma. We make opportunities available for trauma victims to rebuild meaning in their lives by assisting others in the community to meet their basis needs. Many orphan children have been taken in by other families, who are given an extra garden plot to raise additional food.
